Abstract

aim: physical activity can influence growth and develop anabolic and catabolic mediators that affect on the growth. The purpose of study was to determine the investigate of inflammatory responses of children with idiopathic short stature to two weeks inactivity after the one period physical activity. Materials and Methods: this study was conducted on the population of children attending to endocrine clinic of atieh hospital of Tehran. 14 idiopathic short stature children (4 girls, 10 boys) were randomly divided into control and experimental groups. Experimental group performed eight weeks, three sessions each week and each session 60 minutes. The intensity of physical activity was 40-60% of HRR. IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β were also measured before and after eight weeks of physical activity and after two weeks inactivity. Data were analyzed by kolmogorov-smirnov, independent t test and one-way ANOVA with repeated measures. Results: The result indicate that after eight weeks of physical activity, IL-6 increased insignificantly and IL-1β decreased insignificantly(p>0.05). Also, following two weeks of inactivity after eigh weeks, inflammatory cytokines TNF-α , IL-1β decrease and IL-6 increase, but this changes no significant(p>0.05). There was a significant between group difference in the TNF-α (P=0.005) response after two weeks of inactivity. Conclusion: In general, it can be concluded that the positive effects of physical activity observed after two weeks of inactivity, and physical activity inhibits the inflammatory response of this children.
